Policy Work

Pravar is Head of the Strengthening Democracy Desk at the International Centre for Sustainability (ICfS). The ICfS is an independent and non-partisan think-tank fostering a deeper alliance between the India, the UK, the USA and other global stakeholders by placing sustainability at the heart of everything it does. Through research, training and development, and influencing policy, it focuses on harmonising the needs of people, planet and profit to build a more sustainable future.

Since joining the ICfS in 2024, Pravar has worked across several project areas:

  1. Understanding India’s foreign policy (2014-present) through the lens of the civilisational-state
  2. Issues of second chamber reform across the UK’s House of Lords and India’s Rajya Sabha
  3. Comparative analysis of the democratic, federal and policymaking cases for electoral reform in the UK and India
  4. The implementation of participatory and deliberative democracy through emerging technology, including AI
  5. Novel Higher Education pedagogies that support civic engagement.

He has written widely on issues of democratic reform in the UK, USA and India (including the 2024 elections in all three countries), as well as to three briefing papers on the Pahalgam terrorist attacks in April 2025 and the resultant conflict between India and Pakistan.
